Enjoying life while Being Productive

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Monday!

Can you believe we are heading into the last week of January? Just a few weeks of cozy, Hygge inspired weekends left before we will be itching for spring to arrive. It is overcast and chilly in my neck of Colorado today so I am going to enjoy today on my couch, drinking some tea, lighting some candles and watching  Poirot in honor of the great Agatha Christie and my mom who loved her books.

My blogs in January have been geared towards starting 2021 on a path which leads to personal growth. I wanted to end January by reminding myself that it is not all about go,go,go but rather about enjoying the journey and the everyday pleasures as I work towards my goals and try to create a better world for us to live in.

One of my favorite blogs/podcasts to follow is by a life coach named Tonya Leigh. She came up with the term “ Leisurely Hustle” a few years back. The first time I heard that term I became hooked on the idea. It is no secret to those who know me well that for many years I was always worried about getting things done, not doing them well enough, and well, just always worried. This nagging feeling inside my head that I was not prepared enough, good enough. Or whatever enough kept me from being as efficient and effective as I would like. I immediately wanted this Leisurely Hustle lifestyle. I would like to say that I changed overnight but it has been a process and a journey I am still traveling.

It has taken time to understand that my personal time is valuable and to invest in myself is to invest in everything I care about. It has taken time to understand that schedules need to include down time so that I can be refreshed and ready to tackle any business at hand.  It has taken time to learn to practice gratitude, develop an “ I get to” attitude and not worry about what others think about my productivity or lack of it. It has taken time for me to “set the stage” to work in comfort and peace with beautiful surroundings that set the mood for productivity with joy, not resentment. Yep, it has taken time but I am starting to transform into the woman I have always envisioned myself to be. Thanks, Tonya for the inspiration.

So, for the last post in January 2021 I would like to encourage you to add some leisure to your hustle. Invest in yourself and then get down to business. Create a comfortable working space, set the mood with music or candles or anything that makes you feel a little bit pampered as you  prepare to get some serious work done. Schedule time for yourself  just like you schedule time for everything else. Focusing on the whole person: body, mind, and spirit is what keeps us healthy and able to make positive changes in ourselves and the world around us.

How about you? Do you have any tips for creating a relaxed but productive work routine?

As always, I would love to hear from you!

Until next time,

Laura
