Creating The Life You Love

Hi everyone, Happy Monday!

In my bathroom,  placed where I can see it every morning as I get ready for work, I have a plaque that says “Live the life you love.” I bought this plaque pre-Covid. I bought it to remind me that I am creating my life day by day, moment by moment. I bought it to remind me to take that hike, plan that trip, meet up with my friends, and to be grateful.

You see, I spent the better part of my 20’s and 30’s letting life happen to me instead of creating my days on my terms. It took a long time to start to dare. Dare to dream, dare to try, dare to fail and then dare to try again. Heck, if I am honest, I still am working on it. Even so, I can confidently say I am making great progress in creating a life I truly love.

Being the creator of our lives sounds great and inspiring when life is going well and everything is in place but what about when Covid hits, or unemployment? What about facing  an unexpected illness or loss of a loved one? Certainly, we do not create these situations for ourselves, nor do we want them.  Can we still live the life we love when the life we love is taken from us?

It is a tricky question but ultimately the answer is yes. Often there is a period of adjustment, anger, and grief, but if we are wise we know that we are in charge of how we react to our new circumstances and we continue to learn and grow in our new reality. We may even begin to thrive in ways we never thought possible. Discovering new gifts, talents, and opportunities we may have never considered had things remained as they were.

I do live the life I love because the life I love is a life where I grow in learning how to love. It may take the form of spending time with family and friends, traveling and learning about different cultures, playing music, teaching, or spending time in nature and absorbing it’s beauty. The experiences will change with the circumstances of life but I know I will continue to create a life I love each and every day.

As always, I would love to hear from you. How are you creating a life you love?

Thanks for stopping by the blog.

Until next time,

Laura
