Reflections On Blogging: Hey, Were Did Everybody Go?

Happy Saturday, everyone!

One of the things I really enjoy about blogging is the sense of community among bloggers. I have been blogging for just over 6 months, starting my blog shortly before Thanksgiving 2013. During this time I have discovered so many blogs that I enjoy reading. My fellow bloggers are great story tellers, adventurers, photographers, chefs, organizers, truth seekers, and philosophers. I love your blogs!

I was thinking about a blog I enjoyed earlier this evening and realized I had not seen any posts from a particular blogger in quite some time. When I checked the blogย site I discovered that they had not made a new post since early February. My heart sank just a little bit. Would there be anymore posts from this person or were their blogging days over? Then it was if the flood gates opened and I soon discovered that so many of the blogs I was following had been inactive for months. December and January started out with a bang for many bloggers and then things seemed to have fizzled as winter changed into spring. With summer a few weeks a way many blogs I enjoyed are a fading memory. Did they finish their decluttering projects? Find the mate of their dreams? Carve out a new life living off the land? I had so many questions for these bloggers whose writings I had come to enjoy. Questions that will probably never be answered. It was rather like I checked out a bunch of library books before realizing the final chapters had all been torn out. I felt a little bummed about the situation.

In my readings have come several across blogs where the blogger was ready to move on to other projects. In these blogs the blogger was gracious in thanking readers for the memories and let the readers know of their future plans. One of the bloggers even made a point to say the site would stay up so that their readers could come back and reference the blog for ideas any time. I liked that gesture a lot.

So, to all my fellow bloggers, if you leave I will miss you. Know that if I follow your blog your ideas, stories, and projects are of interest to me. Don’t forget to say “goodbye”. No matter what your reason for leaving your blog I will want to wish you well and say ” Thanks for the memories”. Know that unless something unforeseen happens I will do the same for you.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time,

Laura

  • I’ve noticed the same as you, some of my first blog”friends”, have sadly disappeared ๐Ÿ™‚ if I ever quit, I too would say good bye and probably keep the blog open. Unless that unforeseen happened (god forbid)…

    • Strange isn’t it ? ๐Ÿ™‚

I think we are both finding out that blogging takes a commitment and it isn’t always easy to keep the blog going. I am glad we are both still at it!

      • Yes it does, and I find too that it isn’t always as easy as I thought it would be. Between work, personal life, family (and being sick) sometimes it’s hard to find the energy ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

But I’m glad we are still at it, just like you ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I think it’s like the gym on New Years people over commit and think it’s they’re not gonna do it perfectly not to do it at all which of course isn’t true. On the other hand people just get busy.
