Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you all had a relaxing weekend.
My spring break had a nice conclusion. I was able to see Damn Yankees at the local dinner theater with some good friends over the weekend..The musical was fun and the company exceptional. This particular group of friends I have known for 35 plus years. We were all part of a church youth group back in the day. Friendships that withstand the tests of time are to be treasured. I also had some friends from my current church help me with the monumental task of making about 60 invitations by hand on Sunday. The company made a big chore much more manageable and enjoyable.
Spring is in the air and the temperatures are warming up so that means back out to the garage to finish my garage project. I will post pictures next Monday of my latest loads to charity. It will feel good to start moving things out again. 🙂 Now on to my main topic.
Start Each Day Off Right
With spring break coming to an end and the new work week starting up my mind has been turning towards ways to balance my time by being organized at home. Most of us need to balance our responsibilities with our need to create a meaningful life.Taking the time to prepare for the day in advance helps us to be more productive and alleviates stress. When we are prepared for the day we actually create more time for ourselves to pursue what is truly important to us. I find it a little ironic that by paying attention to the mundane we can create more time for the extraordinary.
Here are some guidelines to make each morning more efficient and stress free:
- Prepare lunch for work the prior evening.
- Decide what to have for the next morning’s breakfast.
- Pick out an outfit for the next day.
- Make sure everything needed for work is in one place in a convenient location before retiring for the evening.
- Make a list of things that must be done the next day.
- Tidy up the house, and pick one room to do light cleaning ( such as dust or wipe down counters) for 15 minutes as part of your evening routine.
- Make the bed in the morning.
- Give yourself a few minutes of quiet/prayer/meditation time before bed and first thing in the morning to finish the evening and start the next day with the right state of mind.
Most things on the list take only a few minutes. Packing lunches and light cleaning in the evening are tasks that take a bit longer to complete but it is time well spent.
